About Northallerton Auctions

Northallerton Auctions was established in 1912 after J Todds handed over the Applegarth Mart from its first opening in 1907.

With a 100 years trading behind it Northallerton Auctions Ltd is still a strong established Livestock Market holding weekly sales of Fatstock on Tuesdays with Store stock and Cull Cows being sold weekly on a Wednesday.

The market attracts a strong contingent of buyers of both local and national abattoirs and butchers. Whilst store purchasers travel from far a field to purchase at the well regarded weekly store sales. Vendors also making the distance to reap the rewards of strong prices achieved weekly. A loyal contingent of regular vendors makes the mart a friendly place to be involved with.

The livestock team is headed by Market Manager and Auctioneer Giles Drew, with a strong team of procurement and field officers headed by Helen Grainger.

Brian Weighell Company secretary & Director looks after the finances and general running of the business a long standing member of staff who knows almost everything there is to know about Northallerton Auctions.

The market has six directors chaired by Alan Watson, who all support the mart regularly and can be seen most weeks helping out during sale days.

Originally from Cheshire Giles’ enthusiasm for livestock started at a young age, Having moved to Northallerton Auctions in 2011 from a more southern rostrum. Giles manages the market on a day to day basis sourcing and selling all classes of livestock, and carrying out a range of rural professional work. Whilst also enjoying rugby, horse racing and shooting when time allows.

Brian Weighell is the Company Secretary of Northallerton Auctions. He has been with the firm for over forty years and was appointed Secretary in 2002. He was appointed as a Director in October 2014. Brian is responsible for the day to day running of the business, including all financial and legal matters. His many interests include Antiques and he organises the busy furniture and collectables sales which are held every three weeks.Brian is the first point of contact for any business related enquiries

A farmers daughter from North Stainley, Helen can be seen at the market every Tuesday & Wednesday offering advice and guidance on marketing livestock. Helen can always be contacted on her mobile during the week and is often out visiting farms to better advise our clients.
